What it is in simple terms:

  • Thyroid Disorders: Your thyroid can significantly influence many body functions through its hormones. If it’s imbalanced—either overactive or underactive—it can lead to various issues.
  • Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension (PIH): This condition involves high blood pressure that develops during pregnancy, typically after about five months, in women who previously didn’t have such issues.

How you might notice it (Symptoms):

  • Thyroid (underactive): Symptoms can include tiredness, weight gain, feeling cold, dry skin, and irregular periods.
  • Thyroid (overactive): Symptoms might be weight loss, nervousness, fast heartbeat, and feeling hot.
  • PIH: Often, this condition has no initial symptoms, highlighting the importance of regular blood pressure checks during pregnancy. Sometimes, headaches, blurred vision, or swelling may occur.

Impact on Pregnancy:

  • Thyroid issues can disrupt your ovulation, making it harder to conceive and increasing the risk of miscarriage or premature birth.
  • While PIH doesn’t lead to infertility, it demands careful monitoring to ensure the health and safety of both the mother and baby during pregnancy.

How We Can Support You:

We will test your thyroid levels and collaborate with you to achieve hormonal balance, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your journey.

For PIH, we will closely monitor your blood pressure throughout your pregnancy, working together to keep both you and your baby healthy.
